SEASONAL PREDICTION FOR THE PERIOD DECEMBER 2008 TO MAY 2009
Based on the three monthly mean prediction for December-January-February, entire Peninsular Malaysia is expected to receive above average rainfall. Northern Sabah is expected to receive above average rainfall while western part is expected to receive slightly above average amount of rainfall. Other areas of Sabah however, are expected to receive average rainfall amount. Entire Sarawak is also expected to receive average amount of rainfall during this period.

Based on the precipitation forecast for January-February-March, entire Peninsular Malaysia is expected to experience above average amount of rainfall especially in the east coast states. Over Sabah, the rainfall conditions are expected to remain the same whereby the northern part of this region is expected to experience above average rainfall while western part is expected to receive slightly above average amounts of rainfall. Other areas are expected to receive average amounts of rainfall. In Sarawak, most divisions are expected to receive average amounts of rainfall during this period.

For the three monthly mean prediction for February-March-April, entire Peninsular Malaysia is still expected to receive above average rainfall. In Sabah, above average and slightly above average amounts of rainfall are still expected over northern and western Sabah respectively. Meanwhile, average amounts of rainfall are expected over the other areas in Sabah. In Sarawak, most divisions are still expected to receive average amounts of rainfall.

The three-month mean prediction for March-April-May indicates normal weather conditions are expected over Peninsular Malaysia. Meanwhile, northern Sabah is still expected to experience wetter weather conditions with above average amounts of rainfall while western Sabah is expected to receive slightly above average amounts of rainfall. Other areas are expected to receive average amounts of rainfall. In Sarawak, normal weather conditions are expected throughout the state.
